How To Fix Vinyl Couch Peeling
When you notice the leather on your couch is peeling, you might assume that you purchased furniture of questionable quality. However, this typically indicates a problem with the finish of the leather and not necessarily the actual leather. Even better news, this is an easy fix. All you need is a vinyl and liquid leather repair kit that provides several tint options. This allows you to match the shade of your leather without anyone being able to tell that you repaired the peeling problem.
Before You Get Started
It is important to inspect your leather sofa so you can correct all issues at the same time. You don't want to come back later and take the chance that you will be able to find the right shade of liquid leather. If you think that you won't be able to spot the peeling areas once you start the repair, place a small piece of masking tape over them.
Next, use alcohol wipes on the couch to clean it. This makes it easier for the true color of the leather to shine. When you're certain the sofa is dry, mix the desired color with the leather repair liquid and test it on the back of the furniture that nobody sees. Now you're ready to start the repair.
Completing the Repair
After plugging in an iron and turning it to a high heat setting, use a spatula to place a small amount of leather liquid on the peeling areas of your sofa. Keep moving the spatula around until the new color blends in well with the existing color. You should now take the hot iron and place it on top of a piece of grain paper. Move it around for approximately 30 seconds and then remove the paper and allow the area to cool. For safety's sake, avoid applying the iron to the furniture or repair liquid directly.
